Women Wander Wild is committed to creating an inclusive, supportive environment where all women feel welcome in the outdoors. We recognise that some participants may have experience of mental health challenges and aim to foster a space that is respectful, non-judgemental, and encouraging for all.
We are also committed to improving accessibility wherever possible and acknowledge that financial barriers can limit participation. We strive to offer a range of free and lower-cost events and may provide subsidised opportunities where feasible. While we aim to be as inclusive as possible, attendees are responsible for ensuring that any event is appropriate for their individual needs and circumstances.
Our paid events are always led by experienced and qualified leaders appropriate to the activity you are undertaking. We employ Mountain Leaders for mountain walking, Mountaineering & Climbing instructors for climbing and qualified instructors for any water based activities. In addition to these leaders you may have dedicated hosts join you from Women Wander Wild on your trip too - these hosts may also be Hill and Moorland Leaders or Mountain Leaders; they could be either trainees or fully qualified. Hosts could also be women with similar outdoor experience to yourselves - their role is not to lead you but to undertake the vent alongside you, offer support and encouragement and be there for any of your needs outside of the specific activities. The event description will clearly outline the experience and/or qualification level of the host. Where no qualifications are stated, attendees should assume the host does not hold a formal leading or guiding qualification.
Most free community hikes and social meet ups are hosted by volunteers within the Women Wander Wild community. These hosts may be peers with a similar level of mountain experience to attendees.
If you are unsure, it is your responsibility to confirm that the host’s experience or qualifications meet your expectations and requirements prior to attending. By joining an event, you acknowledge and accept the level of leadership provided and agree to take part under the guidance of the named host.
Attendees are responsible for arranging appropriate travel and personal insurance to cover participation in events. This should include cover for cancellations, personal injury, and loss or damage to equipment. Women Wander Wild accepts no liability for any such losses, damages, or injuries incurred.
